IS CEA TRULY THE FUTURE OF FARMING?

Climate change is already affecting farmers across the globe with extreme weather patterns, including flooding and heatwaves, increasing in both frequency and intensity. Furthermore, increasing dependence on chemical herbicides and pesticides not only comes at greater costs to farmers, but also to the natural ecosystems and organic matter needed to maintain the quality of the soil. Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) or most known by people as Indoor/Vertical farming can help take positive steps towards a more sustainable, and profitable future by reducing water consumption, the need for chemical intervention, logistics, and land usage. In this food talk, we will get to know from CEA practitioners in Malaysia why CEA practice needs to be implemented to facilitate the use of Precision Agriculture and Smart Farming and if truly CEA is the future of farming?

IS IT REALLY TRASH?

CIRCULAR AGRINOMICS - Relook at the perspective of food waste and agriculture waste.

Use agriculture as an industry to close the loop of the food system.

What we assume as food waste or agriculture waste is actually a nutrient-rich by-product that has huge potential to be leveraged as a 'closing loop' in the circular food system. However, there are many limitations in terms of resources and technology to salvage this nutrient. This dialogue puts forward breakthrough entities/initiatives around the Southeast Asia region that are redefining what we think is waste.
